Hi, I’m Ranjani Seshadri a mom, a dreamer, and the heart behind Lalu.

At Lalu, we design everyday ethnic wear for children simple, timeless pieces made from natural fabrics and traditional Indian weaves. Each outfit celebrates our country’s incredible textile heritage from the luxurious Kanchivaram silks of Tamil Nadu and the serene Kerala kasavu, to the vibrant Madurai Sungudi, the cheerful Bandhani of Gujarat, and the intricate Jaipuri handblocks.

We truly believe tradition isn’t meant to be stored away for special days it’s meant to be lived in, laughed in, and passed on through memories stitched in soft cotton.

The Story Behind Lalu

Where the Spark Began

As a child, I wore my pattu pavadais beyond festivals on ordinary days, to school, simply because they made me feel joyful and confident. Tradition was not an occasion; it was a way of life.
A Shift That Needed Changing

Over time, ethnic wear became reserved for special moments alone. As a mother, I felt the absence of the softness, comfort, and cultural familiarity I once grew up with and wished the same everyday connection for my children.
The Birth of Lalu

Lalu was created to restore that balance bringing timeless fabrics and cultural warmth into daily childhood. Designed with care, Lalu celebrates tradition not as an event, but as an everyday comfort.
