About Lalu

At Lalu, we design everyday ethnic wear for children simple, timeless pieces made from natural fabrics and traditional Indian weaves. Each outfit celebrates our country’s incredible textile heritage from the luxurious Kanchivaram silks of Tamil Nadu and the serene Kerala kasavu, to the vibrant Madurai Sungudi, the cheerful Bandhani of Gujarat, and the intricate Jaipuri handblocks.

We truly believe tradition isn’t meant to be stored away for special days it’s meant to be lived in, laughed in, and passed on through memories stitched in soft cotton.

Welcome to Lalu where love and tradition meet comfort.

Founder’s Story

As a child, I wore pattu pavadais even on regular days, simply because I loved them. They were comfortable, familiar, and a part of everyday life — not something saved only for festivals or functions.

Over time, that changed. Traditional wear slowly became “occasion wear,” especially for children.

After the birth of my daughter, I found myself wanting the same ease and joy I had grown up with — clothes that were soft, breathable, and rooted in tradition, yet practical enough for everyday use. When I couldn’t find that balance, I decided to create it.

That’s how Lalu was born.

Lalu is about bringing traditional silhouettes back into daily childhood — thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and made for real movement, play, and rest. Clothes that children can truly live in, not just dress up in.
